Barbican & Hoe Waterfront Media Team: Emily Clark’s Departure

Emily Clark Band Music Coverage 2014Emily Clark one of our volunteer members specialising in graphic design and photography recently completed her course at the College of Art and Design and has been awarded a BA with honours in Graphic Design. Congratulations Emily! :).

Emily first joined our team back in July 2013 and has enjoyed many adventures covering various events across Plymouth.

During her time with the team Emily earned herself the title “tough cookie” after always battling to grab photos to help show off events to their fullest. She even fought off bouts of sea sickness during the British Firework Championships in 2013 although vows never to go out on rough seas again :).

Emily Clark had this to say about her experience working with the Barbican & Hoe Waterfront Media Team: “It has been an incredible experience to work with so many passionate and dedicated people within the team for just over a year, ranging from photographers to writers the team supports and promotes local businesses and events around the city using there own time to do so.

The owner Scott is a great friend and joy to work for, providing every team member with a large range of different job opportunities to gain new skills and promote themselves and the team at the same time. I already miss not working for the team; I have gained some friends for life and will miss the enjoyable team banter.”

Emily upon completion of her course has moved back to her home town of Oxford, although she is keeping an eye on graphic design jobs here in Plymouth for a possible return :).

We wish Emily well in the future and look forward to her return trips back to Plymouth where she has found her second home :).

The Plymouth Inspiring Volunteering Awards 2014

volunteer awards 2014The Plymouth inspiring volunteering award nominations are now open. Would you like to nominate The “Barbican / Hoe Waterfront Volunteer Media Team”? ;)

For over 3 years now I (Scott Grenney) together with a team of dedicated, passionate volunteers helping cover and showcase as much of the Barbican and Hoe as we can to highlight businesses and events with the aim to help encourage people to come down to visit via our website and social media.

We are also active within the community and regularly on site during events and appearing randomly to meet traders inbetween.

It would be nice for the team members to be recognised for an award (number 8 looks possible). There will be stiff competition, but I like to feel we could be nominated and give it a go.

Attached is the nomination form and further details. Deadline is 25th April 2014

Download/View (Word Document): Nomination Pack 2014

All nominations are highly appreciated! :)

Eddystone Media Teams Up with Soperfect Images

Eddystone Media, the team who bring you the Plymouth Hoe Waterfront Website, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Soperfect Images, helping us to extend the range of services we can provide and offering more opportunities to our volunteer team members.

During Eddystone media’s coverage of events on their community websites and linked social media networks for the Plymouth Barbican Waterfront ( and Plymouth Hoe Waterfront ( the team of dedicated volunteers found themselves being asked more and more frequently about having the option to download images and options to buy some of their photos as prints or to be mounted onto canvas.

Our partnership with Soperfect images now gives us this option and allows us to offer additional new services to help enhance our general events coverage.

Our partnership with Soperfect images means we can now:

  • Provide full size unwatermarked images for  purchase download via Soperfect’s gallery **
  • Access to printing services including creation of photos as prints, posters, on canvas and acrylic, key rings and fridge magnets with new products at affordable prices being added regularly.
  • Access to a “photo events trailer” providing onsite printing during outdoor events and a portable studio for indoor events.

** During public events we will still showcase photos with watermarked images as always on our websites and social media 🙂

We will also be taking part in lots of fun and educational community photography projects where our team of freelance writers, social media reporters and photographers will have the opportunity to share their skills with the local community based around “The Camera Kids” project run by Soperfect Images.

The Camera Kids use photography to explore and learn new skills with a visual learning experience. Their imagination is captured through an evolving program of challenges and workshop making photography accessible to all abilities and backgrounds. With Eddystone Media and Soperfect Images joining forces at events and offering community projects there are great opportunities to offer young and old the chance to explore more of Plymouth. There would be ways of involving other local businesses within this new and exciting partnership and offer further services as it expands.
