Armed Forces Day 2014

A HUGE line up of events are scheduled for Plymouth Armed Forces 2014 including live music into the late evening!

Air displays, parachute jumps, parades and performances by the chart-topping Military Wives Choir are just a few things getting people excited about Armed Forces Day 2014.

Plymouth City Council is putting the final touches on this year’s programme – which is set to offer a fantastic day out for the whole family.

Sponsored by Babcock, Plymouth’s Armed Forces Day will be held on Saturday 28 June on Plymouth Hoe, against the backdrop of Plymouth Sound. Thousands of people, from home and abroad, will join the city in a celebration that will honour and pay tribute to the nation’s serving personnel, veterans, their families and the many agencies that support them.

This year the Plymouth Hoe plays host to the National Armed Forces Day with a week of events leading up to the big day. Expect something BIG this year as the Army, Navy and RAF, past and present together with armed forces families and general members of the public celebrate our Armed Forces.

Steampast

2pm: Type 23 frigate HMS Argyll and support tanker RFA Mounts Bay will conduct a steampast of Plymouth Hoe, with HMS Argyll firing a 21-gun salute in honour of the presence of HRH The Earl of Wessex. This will be returned by the men and guns of the 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery. Plymouth Sound
